What’s your take on Stories?

Aristotle, the great philosopher in Ancient Greece, says : Images belong to the rational soul in the manner of perceptions, and whenever it affirms or denies that something is good or bad, it pursues or avoids. Consequently, the soul never thinks without an image’.

That must be why everyone loves a great story. Perhaps that is also why stories are remembered more easily than facts or numbers. For it is true, stories create a thousand pictures.

For thousands of years, stories have taken people on emotional journeys, changed their patterns of thinking, and moved them to action. For me, my own love for stories began when as a little girl I recall my father – a natural talent in storytelling and a powerhouse when it came to words, telling us beautiful, capturing tales to put us to sleep. Only I wasn’t one who wanted to go to sleep! Instead, I lay in my bed with eyes wide open, hanging from his lips and devouring every word and every detail.

These were one of the most memorable moments in my childhood and probably are the reason behind my own adoration for words and my passionate relationship with Stories. Not only telling stories, but listening to stories too.

Moving a few (!!) years forward to today and as I was embarking on the creation of a brand new website, this love of mine came very much to the front and presented a sweet challenge for me. What stories do I write? What stories do I share? I have been on so many paths and there have been so many experiences…

I was called into yet another meticulous journey of self-exploration and having to decide on which tales mostly define my life and my long-term career. What was going to be included, was very important to me; for it had to represent Marlene. It had to show clearly what I stand for and to convey the passion with which I have served and I continue to serve within my work spectrum.

So here we are, my new website is now ready and I invite you to visit this space that really feels like a big ceramic pot to me, in which I have thrown all of my loves: bright yellow sunflowers, the Mediterranean light, the crystal clear sea, colours, images, my core values of creativity, freedom, boldness, unity, peace and my passion for conscious living and authentic leadership.

I will let you decide on whether my choice of Stories was right. Do let me know. Are you being served by what you read? Is there something else that would add value to you? Do you have any questions? And finally, what’s your take on Stories?

Love,

Marlene 🌻
